Somerset Timbers is a family-owned business that has grown and developed thanks to the determined and problem-solving attitude of its long-serving team. No better is this demonstrated than with Somerset Timbers laminating press.
Three years ago the laminating production department found itself frustrated by available equipment, so they called on workshop manager Andre Links. His suggestion was to build a bespoke laminating press that suited the wood and the products they wanted to produce. Taking on the design and build, Andre created a press using the same mechanism as truck brakes. This closed air system allows the press to remain under pressure even when there is no power (like during load shedding).
The press is used to make the laminate beams, posts and countertops sold at Somerset Timbers. It is designed to accommodate both 6m and 3m lengths of timber. Knowing wood, and how to treat is the way we do it, and we thank our team for that.
